Bob Barker And Bunny Friend Say Yes To Cruelty Free Shopping

Longtime animal rights activist Bob Barker and his bunny friend Benny have a request for all compassionate consumers: Please stay away from products that have been tested on animals.

To honor the 25th anniversary of PETA's Cruelty-Free Shopping Guide, the pair star in a brand-new video for PETA in which Barker urges shoppers to visit PETA.org for a list of cruelty-free companies.

In the past 25 years, PETA’s Cruelty-Free Shopping Guide list has grown from just three to more than 1,100 cosmetics and household-product companies that have banned animal testing. Although thousands of companies use only modern, non-animal methods to assess product safety, some companies?such as Clorox and L’Oral?still drip chemicals into animals’ eyes and smear substances on their skins in archaic and painful experiments that are not required by law. As Barker explains in the video, “The animals suffer intensely. Some even go blind.” He emphasizes, “The price is never right on products tested on animals.”

Barker, a longtime vegetarian and celebrated proponent of spaying and neutering to help control animal homelessness, is an active PETA supporter. Last year, he generously donated $2.5 million for PETA’s new Los Angeles headquarters, which the group named the Bob Barker Building.

Kris Jenner Demands Grandchildren!

One thing has been made clear on Keeping Up with the Kardashians this season: Kris Jenner is a controlling, whining attention hog with a bladder problem.

She also enjoys butting into her children's personal lives, making her opinion clear on the state of their relationships and their uteruses. She admitted as much to Us Weekly yesterday.

"I would love more grandchildren," Kris said. "Mason is the love of our lives, and he is so much fun, but there's only one Mason to go around. It would be nice if we had some more."

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom might have a child one of these days, but the former appears to enjoy talking about the possibility more than actually going through with it. Still, the outcome is in God's hands, not in her private parts.

"I would love all of my children to experience having children on their own," Kris says. "I think going through that process of being pregnant and giving birth, everybody should, if you can and you're blessed."

Seriously, kids. Mommy needs another set of newborn photos to sell to the tabloids.

The ?Fix You? rockers were introduced by Kimmel from the UCLA gig they were playing to benefit the Grammy Foundation.

Chris Martin sang, "I stole a key/ And took a car downtown where the lost boys meet/ Took a car downtown and took what they offered me," and "In my scarecrow dreams/ When they smashed into smithereens/ Be a bright red rose come burst to concrete/ Be a cartoon heart."

Kimmel noted that Coldplay was the first band he ever had on his show back in the day. When Jimmy asked Chris what they?ve been up to since then, he replied, "Will [Champion] worked at FedEx and the rest of us run a pet shop."

It was just last year in an interview with GQ that Taylor Lautner insisted he and the magazine?s reporter have lunch at the Olive Garden for his cover-story interview. Ian Somerhalder Testifies For Conservation

Written by Elizabeth Willoughby

Actor Ian Somerhalder was in Washington, DC last week to testify before Congress on HR50, the Multinational Species Conservation Funds Reauthorization Act.

“The legislation initially enacted in 1990 is viewed globally as a success story,” said Somerhalder during his five-minute speech. “With the US leading the effort, governments around the world are able to begin investing in their ecosystems. From the Congo to Southern Sudan, we’re finding that species conservation is paying off in terms of both the environment and local government action.”

Somerhalder is convinced that people are ready and willing to do whatever is necessary for species protection. Besides Asian and African elephants, apes, tigers and rhinos that Somerhalder addressed in his written testimony, his spoken testimony focused on why marine turtles need this act to be reauthorized:

“There is a specific chain of events that occur when these turtle populations drop. The loss of these turtle populations leads to an explosion of jellyfish populations, which can kill lower level food chain fish, which in turn have an impact on tuna and swordfish, which are big contributors to the human population. We have already seen this increase in our beaches, and it could have drastic fisheries implications.”

His own IS Foundation also focuses on species protection, as well as habitat conservation and green energy initiatives. IS works with established initiatives and with grass roots levels to provide the resources needed to transform conversations into projects.

“My Foundation is in 190 countries at this point, with a lot of global outreach, and I just want you to know that the ideology is backed by passion and commitment,” Somerhalder said to Congress. “I want to ask that the subcommittee move quickly to mark up the HR50 and reauthorize this very important piece of legislation.”

Pamela Anderson Writes To Royal Family In Denmark About Fur

Pamela Anderson has just sent a letter on PETA's behalf to Queen Margrethe II of Denmark over the royal family’s use of fur.

In the letter, Anderson – who heard that the Royal family gets their fur from a “trusted source” – respectfully tells Her Majesty that fur production is cruel worldwide and encourages her to join public figures such as Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in going fur-free.

“I had the great pleasure of visiting your beautiful country this month and was thrilled to hear from my friends at PETA that Denmark banned cruel fox-fur farms not long ago,” writes Pam in the letter. "During my visit, I learned that the royal family gets its fur from a “trusted source.” May I ask, who is the supplier? Undercover investigations into fur farms have shown cruelty to animals across the board, from Denmark to the United States. Most fur comes from China, where animals – including dogs and cats – are bludgeoned and even skinned alive for their fur, as seen in this short video. Minister Eva Kjer Hansen of Denmark stated, “Mink breeders break animal welfare rules. And that is unacceptable.” Animals trapped in the wild are no better off: Many suffer for hours and even chew off their own limbs to escape.

“Because of the cruelty in the fur trade, more and more public figures are shunning fur – and not just actors and models. First ladies Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni recently announced that they are both fur-free too. I hope that your future outfits won’t involve the death of animals, especially for ceremonial garments.”
