Frenchie Davis: From American Idol to The Voice

Season two American Idol castoff Frenchie Davis has found redemption on The Voice this spring, even if that's not a word she feels is appropriate.

Frenchie doesn’t like the word redemption because, she says, she has nothing to redeem herself for. But it's hard not to look at her story that way.

As an American Idol hopeful, she got the boot for having posed for sexy photos. That left a bad taste in her mouth, as she wasn't even voted off.

Last night, she showed millions of viewers what they missed out on, bringing down the house with David Guetta’s “When Love Takes Over” ...

“Some people might see it that way,” Davis says of her comeback story. “I personally don’t think I have anything to redeem myself from."

"But it’s a great chance to enlighten people who maybe weren't Frenchie enlightened before and share my gift with a whole part of the world that I’ve never been able to share it with. And, hey, Cee-Lo Green’s a fan now. Hello!”

Call it what you want, she is living the dream now.“What broke my heart so badly with the Idol experience was that when I left Idol most of the people remembered me because of the controversy."

"And if I had no talent, if I was just some talentless girl who showed her boobs at 19, I could live with that. But it’s like, I was born to sing and I just couldn’t live with that being my legacy when God gave me this voice."

"This show symbolized for me, win or lose, I get to walk away from this show and be remembered for my voice and that’s I ever wanted.”
