Taylor Swift Supports St. Jude's Childrens Hospital

Written by Sarah Wicks

Taylor Swift has recently teamed up with the Academy of Country Music (ACM) to donate $50,000 to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Every year the Entertainer of the Year, which is currently Swift, chooses a charity to donate to and the ACM doubles the amount chosen.

St. Jude is the only cancer research center where treatments that are not covered by insurance don’t have to be paid for by the families. As a result, no child is ever denied treatment, even if the family is unable to pay. It is one of the few charity-based hospitals and has been described as a blessing for many. St. Jude is dependent on donations for them to stay open as they share their discoveries with scientific and medical communities all over the world.

The charity has also received over $1.25 million which was raised by Celebrity Apprentice winner, John Rich from his work on The Apprentice.

Over the past year, Taylor has donated over $1 million to a variety of charities.
