Rise Against Vocalist Wants You To Go Vegan

Rise Against vocalist Tim McIlrath has a few words of advice for anyone looking to make the world a better place: Ditch “mindless traditions” and go vegan.

That’s the message in his new video for peta2, the world’s largest youth animal rights organization, in which he shares many reasons to embrace a cruelty-free lifestyle.

“I’m talking about some of the mindless traditions that have kept society eating meat and taking part in all kinds of consumption of animal products,” says McIlrath. “I can’t stress how easy it is to … leave these things out of your life. This is something that affects you, the world around you, the environment, and even the economy. This is something that touches all of our lives. And so, for the animals, and for yourself, and for the Earth, please consider a cruelty-free lifestyle.”

In addition to causing massive amounts of animal suffering, meat production is a leading cause of greenhouse-gas emissions, water pollution, and land degradation. Also, eating meat, eggs, and dairy products has been linked to heart disease, strokes, diabetes, obesity, and cancer.

Tim McIlrath is part of a long list of musicians?including Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cutie, Mike Ness of Social Distortion, Ted Leo of the Pharmacists, and more?who have teamed up with peta2 to promote a cruelty-free lifestyle.
